Wedding Memories

Yikes, Ian has been carrying our blog lately…hopefully now that the Big Day is over I’ll be able to start contributing more.

Thinking back on the wedding, I can’t believe how quickly it went by. It seemed like one minute we were at the rehearsal the night before, and the next, it was Monday night and it was time to go back to work. I guess that’s how it is with most people when you ask them about their wedding. We were so lucky that everything went off according to plan with no major hiccups. While they are still fresh in my mind, here’s a brief recap of the wedding events:

  • Friday, I had a pretty relaxed morning with Tabs and Sheryll. Got mani/pedis with them, my mom and Auntie Millie, ate a delicious lunch prepared by my dad and then started getting ready. Angelica is a hair/make-up queen. She did such an awesome job! I really think she should make it more than just a hobby.
  • I didn’t start feeling nervous/excited until I started putting on my dress. I guess that’s when it all started feeling real. From that time until the time the ceremony was over I was full of anxious anticipation.
  • From the time I walked down the aisle, things are a bit of a blur. I remember being happy as I saw our immediate families in the audience and Ian’s cousins in the choir loft. I was really glad that we were able to have such a small ceremony that was so perfectly intimate. Sadly, I can’t remember all the details of our vows because I was just trying to hold it together and trying not to make too many mistakes.
I dont look too nervous, do I?

  • Before I knew it, the ceremony part was over, and we took a lot of pictures while we waited for the shuttle to take us up to the restaurant in San Mateo. I’m really glad that we decided to arrange the shuttle. It gave everyone a chance to relax and no one had to worry about fighting traffic though it was surprisingly light on a Friday evening. I guess a lot of people decided to head out early for Memorial Day weekend.

  • We arrived at the restaurant a little early, but fortunately they were able to get things ready with only a little bit of a delay.
  • The meal at Astaria was absolutely perfect. Everyone was able to enjoy themselves and the food was delicious. My bro said it was the best wedding food he’d ever had, and that’s a real compliment because he’s been to a lot of weddings. I was surprised by how much everyone enjoyed the desserts. I thought that with all the food, the desserts would be left untouched, but I’m glad everyone save a little room.

We were so glad everyone had room for dessert.

  • Ian’s photo booth was a big hit at both the dinner and the luncheon. I’m glad no one was shy and everyone just jumped right in!

  • The shuttle on the way back was really quiet. I think everyone was full and happy.
  • The next day we, especially I, got a late start. I ended up being an hour late to the luncheon. I guess I’m already adopting the Filipino ways! The luncheon was full of lots of new and familiar faces. Hopefully it won’t take me another five years to learn all of those faces I don’t know.

A grand, tardy entrance! It was so uncharacteristic of me, my family was shocked.

  • Only downside to the weekend was that at the hotel we were staying they were having a huge science fiction conference so elevators and all public areas were very crowded.
  • We spent the rest of the weekend hanging out with friends and family. It was a really great wedding weekend. I couldn’t have asked for more!

A leisurely Sunday spent opening the gifts. Ian loves his gift!
