My new acting career
![]()
Actually, not quite, but maybe someday! At least I can start a new IMDB entry with my most recent gig.
Work is a fun place. Normally, I’m at my desk for eight hours a day, most of my time spent drawing nice pictures on my computer. As a part of the company’s creative team, we work closely with the video team (who produce phenomenal work, by the way). The environment is super casual at work, so on occasion, I’ll wear one of my classy A’s fitted caps to work:
Anyway, perhaps I caught the video team’s attention with my taste of fashion, so they had me in mind when they were casting a b-boy group for a client’s video. The shoot was offsite in the Clarion Alley up in the City, along with the rest of the video crew along with an actual professional actress. We had a blast shooting it:
Anyway, cut to the chase. I play a b-boy featured on this microsite I designed:
I make my appearance after the pottymouth elderly lady; I’m wearing a brown vest with a beanie.
Maybe this won’t be my breakthrough performance into Hollywood. Maybe I should just start small & become a YouTube star instead.
The First Two Weeks Have Flown By!
I can’t believe it’s almost been two weeks since we got married. It seems like it’s been a lot longer, but then again maybe that’s because it feels like nothing has really changed. The very first question many people ask me is: ‘how does it feel?’
To be honest, it doesn’t really feel any different. I keep expecting something to feel different, but it really doesn’t. The only major changes have been that my official address is up the Peninsula not in the South Bay anymore, we established a couple joint bank accounts last weekend, and some people now refer to me as Mrs. S. All of these changes seemed pretty natural so while things may be different it hasn’t been anything earth-shattering.
The commute, of course, will be a bit of an adjustment. At this point, I have two options:
- Drive during non-traffic hours or
- Take the train.
Personally, I prefer the train even though it takes quite a bit longer and is a bit more expensive, but I find it a bit more relaxing since I can do other things while I am riding. I’ve actually started reading more thanks to the commute. My only wish is that it were a little more cost efficient.
While it may not feel any different, I am still really happy when I realize that Ian and I are indeed married. I’m sure that we will come across obstacles and changes along the way, but Ian and I are agreed that we are a team, and we will work hard to maintain a happy life together.
Wedding Memories
Yikes, Ian has been carrying our blog lately…hopefully now that the Big Day is over I’ll be able to start contributing more.
Thinking back on the wedding, I can’t believe how quickly it went by. It seemed like one minute we were at the rehearsal the night before, and the next, it was Monday night and it was time to go back to work. I guess that’s how it is with most people when you ask them about their wedding. We were so lucky that everything went off according to plan with no major hiccups. While they are still fresh in my mind, here’s a brief recap of the wedding events:
- Friday, I had a pretty relaxed morning with Tabs and Sheryll. Got mani/pedis with them, my mom and Auntie Millie, ate a delicious lunch prepared by my dad and then started getting ready. Angelica is a hair/make-up queen. She did such an awesome job! I really think she should make it more than just a hobby.
- I didn’t start feeling nervous/excited until I started putting on my dress. I guess that’s when it all started feeling real. From that time until the time the ceremony was over I was full of anxious anticipation.
- From the time I walked down the aisle, things are a bit of a blur. I remember being happy as I saw our immediate families in the audience and Ian’s cousins in the choir loft. I was really glad that we were able to have such a small ceremony that was so perfectly intimate. Sadly, I can’t remember all the details of our vows because I was just trying to hold it together and trying not to make too many mistakes.
- Before I knew it, the ceremony part was over, and we took a lot of pictures while we waited for the shuttle to take us up to the restaurant in San Mateo. I’m really glad that we decided to arrange the shuttle. It gave everyone a chance to relax and no one had to worry about fighting traffic though it was surprisingly light on a Friday evening. I guess a lot of people decided to head out early for Memorial Day weekend.
- We arrived at the restaurant a little early, but fortunately they were able to get things ready with only a little bit of a delay.
- The meal at Astaria was absolutely perfect. Everyone was able to enjoy themselves and the food was delicious. My bro said it was the best wedding food he’d ever had, and that’s a real compliment because he’s been to a lot of weddings. I was surprised by how much everyone enjoyed the desserts. I thought that with all the food, the desserts would be left untouched, but I’m glad everyone save a little room.
- Ian’s photo booth was a big hit at both the dinner and the luncheon. I’m glad no one was shy and everyone just jumped right in!
- The shuttle on the way back was really quiet. I think everyone was full and happy.
- The next day we, especially I, got a late start. I ended up being an hour late to the luncheon. I guess I’m already adopting the Filipino ways! The luncheon was full of lots of new and familiar faces. Hopefully it won’t take me another five years to learn all of those faces I don’t know.
- Only downside to the weekend was that at the hotel we were staying they were having a huge science fiction conference so elevators and all public areas were very crowded.
- We spent the rest of the weekend hanging out with friends and family. It was a really great wedding weekend. I couldn’t have asked for more!
