Happy 95th anniversary!

This past Monday, our church held a huge celebration in San Jose & church members from all over California congregated in this huge venue.

Uncharacteristically, I only took a handful of photos that evening, as I knew many others would have posted the same images (& likely better than I can take). The photo above was, in fact, the best photo I took of the evening.

I’d say this weekend was truly spiritual—a very successful way to commemorate this momentous event.

To all those who took better photos & have them uploaded somewhere: send me your link & I can post it here on this blogpost.

Photos of the day: socializing in the Function Hall

Social in the Function Hall

For all you church people out there: happy anniversary! Church members from all over California met in the Function Hall in San Jose to meet other brethren in a huge social event. The Function Hall is pretty big, but when its used to host a huge group like this, it easily got a bit cramped.

I used this opportunity to promote my pet project—Locale Maps. Many people have not heard of it, but on the other hand, I was so pleased to find that I did have many fans/users of the site. It warms the heart.

I created a 20-inch sign that read ‘Locale Maps’ & had everyone take a photo with it. Since I’m a naturally shy guy, I used the sign to open conversations with so many different people…& it worked! I even had offers of people who can help me build on my project.

I took many photos tonight, so to try to narrow down my selection in a rational group, here are the photos that included my sign with more than six people. Here’s one more:

I got to meet a lot of amazing people today. Thanks for being so friendly! See you at the HP Pavilion!

Photos of the day: baseball is full of celebration

The first pitch by the President of the United States

Baseball is full of tradition & celebration. As a nation proud of its pastime, no expense is spared in showing it off to the world. How much more iconic can it get when our President throws out the first pitch? This year’s MLB All-Star Game was gorgeous, without a doubt.

We got a good view of all the action from our outfield bleacher seats. Also, they made it quite evident that the welfare of the President is of utmost importance & they made sure they let all the guests know before entering the ballpark.

Photo of the day: cousin & niece

Our lil' cousin Kevin & the cutie niece Ava

Not too long ago, Angelica celebrated her entrance into 21-hood. She had a huge celebration at Strike Bowling at Cupertino Square (formerly Vallco Fashion Park).

Kevin’s just finished school & is now enjoying his summer vacation. He spent a few days at my parents’ place to hang out with my bro for a few days. My bro brought him to the bowling alley to meet up with my sister & her family to celebrate with Angelica & friends.

This photo is my cousin & niece hanging out at the wall. Kevin’s nearing the pre-teen age, so he’s the cool guy hanging out at the wall with his cellphone. Ava has an innate passion for music & acting gangster to ghetto music.

Photo of the day: Randy’s birthday bash in the City

Randy's birthday bash in SF

Today’s post was made mainly for Clay, even though it was Randy’s birthday. He requested this multiple times & I was slow to upload the set.

Back in the day, us guys taught ourselves some a capella songs just for fun & to use it to pick up girls. They’re definitely good for one thing: it attracts attention. After a night of dining & partying with the guys, we had a strong urge to start harmonizing on the streets of a Saturday evening in San Francisco. At the front of our hotel was an alcove that had outstanding acoustics, which also carried sound very well. Our Boyz II Men renditions caught the attention of a passing group of bachelorettes who were out celebrating. They stuck around to listen & the guys asked them if they could take a photo with them. Fun group.
