Ahh…good ol’ American food sizes. During the middle of our visit of Magic Mountain, we stopped at the food court for a pre-dinner pick-me-up. Amusement parks—just like movie theatres—mark up their prices at obscene levels, so Ryan & I decided to share a meal of food. All the meals were priced north of $10, so we picked the one with the best value. The turkey leg was almost as big as a two-liter bottle.
Nikki had difficulty conquering it, too:

It was a good tasting turkey leg. Tasted like ham.

A few months ago, Clay wanted some company to go check out the Eat Real Food festival in Jack London Square. Being the good friends that we are, we took him up on his offer. Besides, it was a lovely August summer Sunday. We couldn’t let it go to waste!
After getting off of BART in Oakland (& singing like crazy people on the train), we happened to take a side street on our way to the festival. Little did we know that we stumbled in the middle of a Volkswagen GTI commercial for the European market.

Of course, as an owner of a GTI myself, I was compelled to stay, probably spent 15 minutes just watching the filming. Pretty interesting stuff. We’ve been there long enough that people came up to us & started asking us questions. A lady came up to Andrew & started making conversation, going something along these lines:
Lady: What’s going on here?
Andrew (with a British accent): Oh, they’re filming a car commercial to be shown in Europe.
Lady: Oh, are you visiting from the UK?
Andrew (with his regular accent): Nah. Actually, we’re from San Jose.
Andrew’s quite the charmer. It didn’t take long for him to make a new friend.
We did get to the festival eventually.

Congratulations to Jess for running her first half marathon! She has been training for months for this moment & her hard word has finally paid off. She woke up in the wee hours of Sunday morning to congregate at Union Square up in San Francisco at the starting line & ran all through the City through the frosty morning.
When we met up with her at mile 11, it was pretty wild to see her full of vigor & with a great big smile.

The above photo is with Jess & her fellow Team in Training peer—the lovely Cindy.
The reward of finishing a half marathon would make any first-timer proud. Just to make it official, they rewarded all the finishers with a really fancy Tiffany’s necklace at the finish line:

We are very proud of her!

Initially, we joked about it, but technically, we were all at Andrew & Aeryn’s first date…at Jack in the Box.
We just finished church out at Eagle Rock in Socal & our Canadian friends have been craving Jack in the Box during their whole trip. We didn’t mind—it was lunchtime & we were hungry.
Andrew & Aeryn just came from visiting her parents out in Barstow, where Andrew proposed to her parents his courtship for their daughter. Since we all met up at church, we all took a one-minute car ride down the street for some fast food. It was funny, because for some reason, they were both hoarding leftovers & stuffing them into a brown bag. Perhaps they both vowed to a life of frugality?

Just kidding…we all love you two.
