First day of honeymooning in Sydney

December 7th, 2009

Flexible street performer

No, not all Australians can put their legs behind their head like that. She was a street performer at Circular Quay, the famous harbor where the Sydney Opera House sits.

After landing in Sydney, we picked up the rental car, took care of some Sunday morning obligations, then spent the rest of the soggy day sightseeing.

We definitely did a lot of walking through the streets of Sydney. Worth mentioning: crosswalk buttons sit right in front of the crosswalk—

It’s the little things that make Australia interesting.

We’re back from Australia!

The first of our few rental Hyundai Getz

It was tough to leave two blissful & restful weeks of honeymoonin’, but we’re finally back to States! Australia, you have treated us well. Another thing I’ll miss—mainly because I got so used to driving in Australia—is our blue Hyundai Getz.

As soon as we landed, we picked up our rental car & drove waaaay out to the edges of the City to find church (we landed in Sydney on a Sunday morning). I definitely hit the ground running in learning how to drive on the other side of the road, which is harder than you may think.

Word to the wise: if you have an option to rent a GPS unit in Sydney, take it! Luckily, I installed some Austalian maps on my netbook, so we weren’t completely lost.
