Ahh, the tradition of the office party holiday potluck lunch, the staple of office culture Americana.
Silly ol’ me who doesn’t know how to use that really hot thing in the middle of the kitchen with the four knobs, what can I do to contribute? For the betterment of myself, I decided to buck up & learn how to cook. After hours of slaving in the kitchen & many failed attempts, I brought this delectable dish to share with my office mates. Presenting, my deep-fried chicken medallions:

Actually, I just bought 60 McNuggets & put it on some nice serving dishes with a parsley garnish.
Happy thanksgiving, everyone!

It all started with the Creme Brulee Cart (@cremebruleecart). Though we still have yet to try it, it was the catalyst for our now growing food cart obsession. So when we heard about the SF Street Food Fest in the Mission last Saturday, we had to check it out.
The festival had a nice mix of established restaurants and food carts (a.k.a. taco trucks) selling a wide variety of foods representing a wide variety of cuisines spreading across the globe. The beautiful weather and the great vibe at the festival made it easy for us to spend several hours eating, people watching and soaking up the sun.

Some of our favorite street foods include: Roli Roti for their porchetta sandwich (we waited for 50 minutes at the festival and it was worth it), Curry Up Now for their deconstructed samosa (Ian recommends ordering online), Hapa SF for their sisig tacos, and Seoul on Wheels for their Korean tacos.
Next festival: this weekend at the Eat Real Fest in Oakland. Hopefully this time we can get to the Creme Brulee Cart before it sells out!

Everyone but my mom has seen our new place. Mother’s Day would be the perfect opportunity to show her our new digs, so we invited the family over to come celebrate with a patio barbecue.
It was the best day ever. Not only did we have good food, but A’s pitcher Dallas Braden throws a perfect game! Being a good son & a gracious host, of course, I TiVo-ed the game while I had company & watched it after they left.
Crazy thing after that: my sister has a her baby 10 days earlier than expected! Now she’ll get to celebrate Mother’s Day with her new baby.

Happy birthday to my cousin Mel, who celebrated her 25th birthday on August 31! She’s in this Thai food phase, so it was only suiting to have celebrations held over Pad Thai at the Amarin Restaurant on Castro Street in Downtown Mountain View. She got dolled up, invited a boatload of friends & enjoyed a night full of laughter & heated outdoor street patio atmosphere.

They even got her a cute little birthday cake, too.

Happy birthday, Mel!

Congratulations to the newly engaged, T-Born (aka Tim) & Molly! Actually, about a month ago, Molly was assigned to fly out to work in Tahiti & T-Born decided to propose right before she left. Only now that she’s back (after being away from ‘Born for a little less than a month) can we celebrate this exciting occasion!
After I found out about the engagement (through T-Born’s rarely updated Facebook status), I shared the good news with our other Japan friends. Sharing the excitement, we thought it would be a wonderful idea to celebrate over dinner. We dined two consecutive Fridays to show how happy we are of the news.

Last Friday, Alex offered to whip up a dinner feast, the usual fare at his house. When it comes to cooking for his good friends, he doesn’t like to hold back:

Yep, that's pasta with bacon, buttery crawfish, gumbo, as well as 'taters & sausage. Angelo's contribution was the thai chicken. Spicy meal, indeed.
Food comas are dangerous at dinner time because we still had to drive home super drowsy.
